Vueling will acquire 50 Boeing aircraft

The aeronautical group IAG has assigned 50 Boeing aircraft to Vueling, specifically, 50 units of the Airbus 737 Max, of which 25 will be the 8200 model and the other 25 the 737-10. Vueling will begin receiving these aircraft from 2026, as part of its plans to expand and standardize its fleet in order to have greater operational capacity to meet strong passenger demand.

This order was signed by IAG in the year 2022 for $6.25 billion, but until now, it was unknown which IAG airline these aircraft would go to. In addition to this acquisition, the airline has options to purchase an additional 100 737-8200s, which would bring the total purchase from Boeing to a staggering $18.75 billion if confirmed.

That said, the only obstacle that appears to exist in these expansion plans is Boeing’s own production bottlenecks, which already caused delays in its deliveries last year. IAG, however, does seem to be clear that the only way it can meet the growing demand for flights is quite simple: expand and standardize the fleets of its respective airlines, starting with Vueling.
